There is exiguity of research studies that have accentuated the appositeness of the construct of psychological capital among white collar employees like doctors, higher education teachers and bank officers who deliver prodigious service to the society. In this backdrop the present study investigated the dimensionality of psychological capital using a sample of 350 white collar employees working at three major human service organizations operating in Kashmir (University of Kashmir, S.K.I.M.S Hospital Srinagar and J&K Bank). An exploratory factor analysis revealed a three factor structure of psychological capital and the same was substantiated by a confirmatory factor analysis procedure. The model fit indices were found to be well within the acceptable thresholds as indicated by value of CMIN/DF=2.3 , GFI=.94, CFI=.95 and RMSEA=.06. Besides this higher order confirmatory factor analysis was also carried out to portray psychological capital as a latent construct formed by hopeful confidence, optimism & resilience. The findings connote that the construct holds well in context of the present study, thereby buttressing the existence and importance of such construct. Keywords

Due to the growing body of research, the concept of religion-health connection has gained grip during the last decade. The impact of religious indicators is found to be associated with social, behavioral, clinical, economic and other aspects of human behavior. In line with this, the present study deals with association of religious orientation with mental health. For this purpose a random sample of 217 family members of disappeared persons belonging to Kashmir were selected. Age-Universal Religious Orientation Scale and Mental Health Inventory were used to collect data from the sample. The results were obtained by using Pearson's Product Moment of Correlation. The results revealed that intrinsic Religious Orientation is negatively related with mental health in contrast to extrinsic religious orientation. Keywords

A Perceived social support scale was developed, that can be used to assess the perceived social support among orphans in the Asian cultural context, with special focus on the cultural context of Kashmir. Responses were sought from 336 orphans from 8 orphanages of Srinagar district on an 18 item scale formulated on basis of strong theoretical and research evidence. Exploratory factor analysis was carried out to check the factor structure and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to confirm the same. The findings revealed a three-factor structure comprising of peer support, school environment and institutional environment dimensions. Cronbach's alpha of the standardized items was found to be 0.84, which falls under the acceptable thresholds as proposed by various psychometricians. Keywords
